Mother’s Day Card

I love making cards, but this was a bit stressful because it was the first time I used the Cricut to make a card!!!

I really had fun exploring all the cartridges learned a lot from this exercise.  Happy Mother’s Day….Hope you enjoy.

My sister Peggy went to Michael’s (she is there almost every day LOL). They had a sale she could not resist and picked up 12 x 12 Floral Foliage patterned paper by Recollections. The paper designs are absolutely beautiful and I surprised myself by selecting a teal given that I am not usually a fan of anything blue. I thought the butterflies were just beautiful.

I cut the card using the Damask Decor cartridge. Since I love flowers, I used the Flower Shoppe cartridge to cut the flower I wanted. I used the Beyond Birthdays cartridge to cut the word Mom with a black shadow behind it. Note that the cartridge does not have a Shadow cut for the word, but if you cut the image from a darker colour and offset the images, it gives you a shadow effect.

Wendy’s Bio

Hi everyone, my name is Wendy Mayo de Castellon. I am married to Oscar, I have two children, Joel and Kahsennanoron, and two beautiful grandsons, Kayden 8 and Crewe 6.They both love to craft as well, but Kayden much more…

I live in Kahnawake, QC just outside of Montreal. This is my home and since I married Oscar, I have been enjoying the hot climate of his country, El Salvador, when the weather is too cold here in “ice cold Quebec.”

I didn’t start out with paper crafting. While I visiting my husband, I found my inspiration for jewelry and fell in love with pearls, Swarovski crystals, and beads, but I never have just one thing going.  My sister had already been scrapbooking for a number of years and would meet other women called “The Scrappy Sisters.” I was invited to join them one Saturday so I went along with my jewelry to socialize and found it very interesting. Before long, I was hooked.

Since my husband always called me sentimental about receiving cards, I find that I am most comfortable designing cards and anything related to home décor.  I would be one to walk into Hallmark and read cards for no reason.

Kayden wanted a pirate party for his 8th birthday so I asked Karin if she could help us. She brought this amazing machine called the Circuit Expression 2. You should have seen the boys and me watching as Karin fired up that little machine—we were like three kids in a candy store, amazed by what she was cutting.  Well it wasn’t long before I received my very own Expression 2 from a special friend. When my sister saw the passion I had for my cards, she said I also needed a Cuttlebug. I love my new toys, and my sister Peggy and friend Karin who believed in me.

This past winter I started to knit scarves and also fell in love with vinyl. I have expressions of how I feel about my wonderful family and unbelievable friends all around our home. I love home décor and decorating and have an eye for colour, which certainly  helps in this business…lol
